WHY JOIN US
Becoming a member of Tongariro Ski Club gives you a welcoming base on both sides of Mt Ruapehu and a community that feels like family. With two well-located lodges, hearty chef-prepared meals, member pricing, and a culture built on connection, the club makes a full winter season achievable for North Island families.
Members enjoy ski-in access at Whakapapa, easy proximity to Tūroa, comfortable shared spaces, and a friendly atmosphere where kids make friends quickly and adults get a chance to relax. It is one of the most social, affordable, and enjoyable ways to spend winter on the mountain.
WHAT TO EXPECT AS A MEMBER
Membership gives you access to both lodges, each offering warm, comfortable spaces designed for families and groups. Expect shared meals, relaxed evenings by the fire, drying rooms, tuning benches, games rooms, and bunk rooms that sleep between two and six people.
You will be part of a community of more than 200 members who value good snow days, shared history, and time together on the mountain. Children become junior members at age five, and many grow up through the Tongariro Juniors programme, gaining confidence, friendships, and a lifelong love of skiing.
Members can book guests when space allows, join club races, attend social events, and enjoy summer stays at Ohakune. It is a friendly, multi‑generation club where new members are welcomed easily, even if they arrive not knowing anyone.

WORK PARTIES
New members are asked to attend one weekend work party each year for two years. These usually take place in March, April, or May and are a great way to meet other members and familiarise yourself with the lodges.
