Tongariro Ski Club has been part of life on Ruapehu for generations. What began as a small hut at the Top of the Bruce has grown into a community of families who return year after year. Since skiing first took off in New Zealand, Tongariro has been known for its warmth, comfort, and genuine sense of welcome. We are a family club, rather than a resort, and it shows in the way people look after each other on the hill and back in the lodge.
Most of our members are North Island families, many from Auckland, with plenty who grew up in the club and now bring their own children. New members are always welcome, and it doesn't take long to feel at home.
TWO LODGES, BOTH SIDES OF THE MOUNTAIN
Ski Whakapapa in the morning, drive round to Turoa the next day. Wherever the snow is best, the club has a bed waiting.

Five minutes' walk from the Top of the Bruce car park, and skiable to the Rangatira chairlift when the snow is in.

TONGARIRO JUNIORS
THE NEXT GENERATION STARTS HERE
Tongariro Juniors is our annual race for skiers and boarders under 18. It's a fun, energetic day on the mountain open to anyone who wants to give racing a go. Kids as young as four take part, and the atmosphere is relaxed, supportive, and full of club spirit.
